The 2020 comes from old vines (averaging 35 years) near Goulée in the northern Médoc, a spot that saw a drier, more extreme season than Cos d'Estournel's home vineyard. Even so, the wine shows the freshness of a cooler vintage alongside the riper acidity and tannin you'd expect from a warmer one. Merlot dominates, giving a rich, generous core with a saline edge and a lift of black pepper.
