The second wine of second-growth Château Brane-Cantenac, the 2016 Baron de Brane is a blend of 65% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine shows dark currant, graphite, and dried lavender aromas that carry through to a medium body with fine tannins and a savory finish, with hints of cedar and dried citrus at the end. It already displays black fruit aromas of blackberry and fleshy cherry mixed with elegant toast, smoke, and vanilla, with tannins that are refined and balanced and ready to drink now.
