The passion that drives Domaine Dehours runs deeper than most. Founded in 1930 by Jérome's grandfather Ludovic in the small village of Cerseuil on the cooler south bank of the Marne river, the estate has been shaped by generations of dedication to the craft. In 1996, Jérome and his brother-in-law Jean-Marc Laisne took full control of the domaine, defining a new era marked by unwavering commitment to excellence and an unconventional approach to champagne making.Nothing at Champagne Dehours follows convention. While larger houses have long dismissed Pinot Meunier as a lesser variety, Jérome has made it the king of his domaine. He harnesses Meunier's natural characteristics—its nuttiness, richness, and texture—balancing each element to create some of the most distinctive champagnes available today.
Solaia, the crown jewel of Marchesi Antinori's legendary 26-generation winemaking dynasty, emerges from the historic Tignanello estate in the heart of Chianti Classico. Since its debut vintage in 1978, Solaia has achieved iconic status as one of Italy's most prestigious and collectible Super Tuscan wines, earning consistent acclaim from critics worldwide over nearly five decades.
The vineyard's meticulously selected 20 hectares occupy a privileged southwest-facing slope at 350-400 meters elevation, where ancient Galestro and Alberese soils—the geological backbone of Chianti Classico—create an extraordinary foundation. This remarkable terroir, shaped by millennia of geological evolution, provides the perfect marriage of drainage, mineral complexity, and water retention for cultivating predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, artfully complemented by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Sangiovese.
The estate's microclimate represents a masterclass in natural winemaking conditions. Tuscany's continental climate delivers warm, sun-drenched days and cool nights, while the strategic elevation and southwest exposure maximize sunlight capture during crucial ripening periods. These dramatic diurnal temperature swings preserve essential acidity and concentrate aromatic compounds, crafting wines of exceptional structure, complexity, and aging potential that can evolve gracefully for decades.
