Poggio Antico is celebrated for producing elegant, finely structured Brunello di Montalcino from some of the highest-altitude vineyards in the appellation. Set at approximately 480 metres above sea level, the estate benefits from cooling breezes influenced by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, helping preserve freshness and aromatic complexity throughout the growing season. Its 200-hectare property includes approximately 33 hectares of vineyards, planted predominantly to Sangiovese on rocky, calcareous soils that provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wines’ precision and structure. With predominantly south and southwest-facing exposures, the vineyards enjoy abundant sunlight while the elevated setting moderates ripening. Committed to sustainable viticulture, Poggio Antico has embraced organic farming practices and cover crops to promote soil health and biodiversity. All grapes are estate-grown and vinified on the property, allowing for careful control from vineyard to bottle.
