Leonildo, the doctor of the town (the general practitioner of today), started the family business due to his passion for wine. In 1901 he bought the first plot of land, where now stands part of the calvarino vineyard. Leonildo’s sons, Gustavo and Fausto carried on the wine business with dedication and foresight.

In 1966 Leonildo Pieropan, nephew and namesake of the founder, and the only descendant of a large family, after having completed his studies in oenology and viticulture at the school of Conegliano (TV), brought profound changes in the winery. He acquired new vineyards in the most suitable areas of the Soave Classico, introduced new technologies and compared his production with others discovered worldwide during his journeys. Together with his wife Teresita he shared the love for the land and the value of the tradition that has to be always preserved.

Leonildo's idea was simple but at the same time revolutionary: to enhance the individual vineyards and give the wines an identity based on the relationship between variety, soil and climate and human work. This has led to the creation of two symbolic wines of Italian enology, "Vigneto Calvarino" in 1971, the first Italian white single vineyard and "Vigneto La Rocca" in 1978. These two wines are the expressions of the diversity and versatility of the two soils present in the area: basalt of volcanic origin in the Calvarino, limestone of marine origin in the Rocca.

The Valpolicella adventure arrives in the early 2000s, with the acquisition of the Monte Garzon Vineyard and Villa Cipolla in Tregnago, recently renovated and used as a Wine Relais

The fourth generation, represented by his sons Andrea and Dario both graduates in agriculture and enology, after the painful loss of their father in 2018, continue the family tradition in the vineyards near Soave with the same love and passion of their forefathers.
