Founded in 2021 by Guillaume Marko and Philippe Pascal of the acclaimed Domaine du Cellier aux Moines in Burgundy, Domaine Mont Bessay is an exciting new estate dedicated to showcasing the fine-wine potential of Beaujolais. Based on the elevated slopes of Mont Bessay in Juliénas, the domaine focuses on distinctive vineyard sites across Juliénas and Moulin-à-Vent, two of the region’s most compelling crus. Working with old Gamay vines rooted in granite-rich soils, the estate takes advantage of the area’s varied elevations and exposures to produce wines with depth, freshness and a strong sense of terroir. Drawing on the founders’ experience in Burgundy, Mont Bessay brings a meticulous, site-focused approach to viticulture and winemaking, emphasizing careful vineyard management, balanced extraction and the individual character of each parcel. The resulting wines combine Gamay’s vibrant fruit and natural energy with impressive structure, mineral complexity and finesse.
