Located approximately 20km northeast of Siena in the hills of Gaiole, the tiny village of Ama is nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico, a bucolic rolling landscape of woods, vineyards and olive groves. The first references of the region's wines date back to 998, but the modern era began 35 years ago with the replanting of the estate vineyards. Of the 260 hectares, 90 were planted to vines and 40 planted to olives. The site itself is spectacular, at 1600 ft above sea level, it is the perfect exposure and ideal for Sangiovese, Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot noir. The obsessive dedication to quality by Marco Pallanti and Lorenza Sebasti has made Castello di Ama not just one of Tuscany's greatest wine producers, but one of the finest wineries in the world.
