Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, a man with incredible vision and passion, and who understood the huge potential of wine in the Montalcino territory. Production started in the Eastern part of Montalcino and was extended later into other areas. The first vineyard was Cerretalto, a unique terroir in a natural amphitheatre over the Asso river. Here, the old vines produced a very unique style of Sangiovese, with small bunches, from which a selective variety was grown that was used in other vineyards, particularly in Tenuta Nuova. Currently the estate covers a total of 7 different vineyards with a surface of around 500 hectares of which 63 are vineyards and 20 are olive groves.
