An Evening of Food and Wine at Venga Cucina | Monday June 22nd

Every so often a pairing dinner comes along where the room is as good as the lineup. This is one of them.
 
On Monday, June 22, Venga Cucina opens its kitchen for an evening of fine Italian wine and pinsa, the slow-fermented Roman flatbread that earned Venga its place as Canada's best, second in North America, and fifth in the world in James Magazine's rankings. We are proud to pour the wines alongside it, six bottles from two of Italy's great houses, Marchesi Antinori and Renato Ratti.

The menu runs from a crisp Tormaresca rosato through the Bramito della Sala Chardonnay, into Tuscan and Bolgheri reds, a Piedmontese Nebbiolo from Ratti, and home to a classic Santa Cristina Chianti. Each pour is matched to a course built around Venga's signature pinsa and a few things you will want to order again.

2025 Tormaresca Calafuria Rosato: Fresh, crisp, and vibrant, with peach and grapefruit. 

Pinsa Bianca: sweet fresh figs, delicate prosciutto, and creamy burrata atop Venga's naturally fermented pinsa.

2024 Marchesi Antinori Bramito della Sala Chardonnay: Elegant and mineral, with a hint of toasted hazelnut.

Zucchini Fritters: light and crispy, with a silky Crema di Parmigiano.

2022 Grillesino Ceccante Cabernet Sauvignon: A bold, rich Tuscan red bursting with dark fruit.

Gino Picante Pinsa: Calabrian 'Nduja, pepperonata, fior di latte, and sundried tomato.

2024 Ratti Nebbiolo Ochetti: Smooth and elegant Piedmontese red, with red cherry and earth.

Pinsa Funghi: wild mushrooms, stracciatella, caramelized onions, pecorino, and truffle oil.

2024 Marchesi Antinori Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato: A premium, full-bodied Bolgheri blend, layered with spice and dark berries.

Polenta Fritte: golden and crispy, coated in Parmigiano Reggiano, with a tangy tomato sauce.

2023 Marchesi Antinori Santa Cristina Chianti Classico Superiore: Classic, food-friendly Tuscan red, with bright acidity and cherry.

Margherita Pinsa: pomodoro, mozzarella, pecorino parmigiano, and fresh basil.
