Lessona
Lessona is a burgeoning wine region in Alto Piemonte (Upper Piedmont), far north from Barolo and Barbaresco which are also home to the Nebbiolo cultivar. The main difference between this area and the Langhe, is the soil, which is primarily volcanic. Nebbiolo from Lessona is characteristically bombastic with equally dense fruit and acitiy. Proprieta Sperino's Nebbiolo vines here are wild and farmed with biodynamic principles, giving this wine incredible purity of fruit. Black cherries, dried cherries, wild roses and alpine herbs define this wine. The 2016 vintage also gives it great power and austerity, showing tremendous potential for what will happen in the cellar.
