La Rinconada was planted by Richard Sanford in the mid-nineties, adjacentto and just west of the famed Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Our parcelis uniquely protected from the onshore winds by the hilltop of the LaEncantada Vineyard just to the west. Chardonnay here is planted on welldrained, deep shaly loam soils full of silica. The 2018 displays both the powerof the favorable position of the vineyard and the finesse of Santa Rita Hillschardonnay grown in these mineral-laden soils. Lemon curd, chamomile teaand oyster shell are carried by an alluring texture on the mid palate. Thewine finishes with delightful tension and freshness.

The 2018 Chardonnay La Rinconada Vineyard opens with crushed almonds and flint that segue to white peaches, allspice and pastry aromas. The palate is seamless and expansive, with waves of concentrated, savory fruit and pure floral accents, and it finishes with tremendous length and energetic acidity.
