This comes from the oldest Sangiovese vines (plus a dollop of Petit Verdot), fermented in open-top wooden vats before going into barriques for two years, and then into large casks for a shorter period. The rich cherry nose is still reticent, in contrast to the palate which is broad and succulent. It is very concentrated and majestic, with firm acidity that tightens up the palate. This shows impressive length and exceptional balance, and should age very well. Fine tannins give refinement as well as structure. Incredibly limited production.
