Fiorano Rosso

Italy, Other

Please accept our apologies, as we had recently featured the 2013 vintage on our E-Offer. It is, in fact, the 2014 vintage that we currently have available, rated 91 points by Robert Parker.

It has a bright, intense ruby color of medium concentration. The aromas are truly complex and pronounced with austere notes of tar, slightly smoky as well as balsamic tones along with accents of cassis and blueberry that merge into a broad aromatic spectrum of extraordinary elegance. The mouthfeel is silky, harmonious and full-bodied with just a hint of very fine tannins while there I absolutely no woodiness. The finish is agile and subtle with an excellent persistence.

The 2014 Rosso Fiorano (Alberico) is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. I tasted bottle number 130 of 1,035 bottles released. In the U.S. and U.K. markets, this wine is named Alberico. In Italy and Asian markets, the wine is simply called Rosso Fiorano. Showing lavish Lazio sunshine and ripeness, the wine is redolent of dark fruit and blackberry preserves. I do note, however, that the wine's ripeness does push the boundaries. You get some savory aromas of bacon fat and cured meat followed by raisins and dried prune. There is a distant point of sweetness in the mouth as well.
