DOMAINE JEAN-BAPTISTE BOUDIER 2023 COLLECTION

Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc 2023

A vibrant expression from this hidden gem appellation, offering citrus purity, white flowers, and a distinct mineral tension characteristic of Pernand's eastern exposures.

This plot is in the upper part of the slope, a cool site, with vines planted on white marl and limestone, which brings freshness to the wine. This is a blend of three plots: Vignes Blanches, Les Pins and Devant les Cloux, totalling one hectare — one of the biggest holdings of the domaine. Crunchy white peach and pear fruit, gently creamy on the palate with a phenolic crunch. Vinified in 350L barrels, with 10-15% new oak. Bottled at the end of July 2024.

$104 per bottle

Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru "Sous Frétille" Blanc 2023

From one of the appellation's finest white wine terroirs, this premier cru delivers impressive concentration with ripe orchard fruits, hazelnut nuances, and a precise, limestone-driven finish.

Facing due south, this is arguably the best plot in Pernand for whites. For years the hillside was mainly planted with Aligoté, and only in 2000 was it classified as 1er Cru, once the Chardonnays had taken over the hillside. Boudier has produced a stunning Sous Fretille in 2023. Pale golden-lemon colour, aromas are intense, ripe and fresh. Palate has more roundness and richness than one often finds in the wines from this stony plot, having beautiful, concentrated middle, and an excellent, long finish.

Aloxe-Corton "Les Combes" Blanc 2023

A rare white from this predominantly red wine commune, showing remarkable balance between richness and energy with stone fruit, subtle spice, and a structured palate that promises excellent aging potential.

From a rare 0.17-hectare east-facing parcel situated just below Corton-Charlemagne, Jean-Baptiste Boudier's Aloxe-Corton "Les Combes" Blanc 2023 brilliantly showcases its privileged terroir of stony, clay, and white marl soils. The wine opens with precise aromatics of white peach, Meyer lemon, and fresh almond, gradually revealing layers of crushed stone and subtle vanilla. On the palate, it demonstrates remarkable tension between vibrant acidity and textural richness, with flavors of Mirabelle plum, quince, and toasted hazelnut underscored by a pronounced mineral character that carries through to the long finish. Hand-harvested Chardonnay undergoes gentle whole-cluster pressing and native yeast fermentation, followed by 14 months aging in French oak barrels (25% new), resulting in a wine of exceptional harmony that will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 8-12 years.

Savigny-lès-Beaune Rouge 2023

This village-level offering captures Savigny's approachable charm with bright red cherries, violets, and silky tannins in a beautifully balanced frame.

Domaine Jean-Baptiste Boudier's Savigny-lès-Beaune 2023 artfully blends fruit from two distinctive sites—Les Peuillets (66%, planted 1999) and Ez Connardises (33%, planted 1998), whose names evoke "young wood" and the historical presence of wild ducks respectively. This premier cru emerges from the gentle slopes at the bottom of the hillside (240m elevation), where stony clay-limestone soils with a predominant sandy component provide excellent drainage, creating ideal conditions for expressive Pinot Noir. Meticulously hand-harvested and double-sorted, the wine undergoes a gentle 10-14 day infusion with partial whole-bunch inclusion and fermentation using only indigenous yeasts, followed by 11-16 months maturation in French oak barrels (15-25% new). The resulting wine reveals a seductive aromatic spectrum of ripe red fruits and subtle spices, while the palate demonstrates remarkable roundness and generous volume, all harmonized by silky, elegant tannins that create a perfectly balanced and refined expression of this distinguished terroir.

Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Peuillets" Rouge 2023

From a well-situated premier cru on Savigny's southern slopes, this wine delivers more intensity and depth with dark cherry, wild strawberry, and a refined mineral character.

This climat is in the south of the appellation, bordering Beaune and the Clos du Roy lieu-dit. The limestone soil has a higher content of sand, which warms up rapidly. Darker and more peppery on the nose, leading into a palate of forest and darkly berried fruit, framed by admirably ripe tannins. Crunchy acids and great depth. 100% destemmed.

$112 per bottle

Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru "Les Fichots" Rouge 2023

This lesser-known premier cru offers tremendous value with its complex aromatics of black fruits, subtle earthiness, and a structured yet elegant palate.

Les Fichots is a cool terroir whose clay-limestone soils contain some iron. It faces the hill of Corton to the east, sitting in its shadow, with exposure to the north wind. The berries therefore need more time to ripen, but the resulting wines are capable of great complexity and finesse. In 2023, this is powerful and darkly fruited, with a creaminess of texture offset by precise acidity. A step up in complexity and concentration. The last to be harvested. All destemmed.

$113 per bottle

Aloxe-Corton "Les Combes" Rouge 2023

A classic expression of Aloxe-Corton's distinctive character—powerful yet refined with dark berries, spice, and impressive depth, supported by well-integrated tannins.

This one-hectare vineyard is 80 years old and faces south-southwest. Planted in 1942, these are the oldest vines of the domaine. This is a low elevation, flat, elongated climat that starts under the grand cru Le Charlemagne, on the eastern side of the hill. It then continues south, bordering the grands crus Corton Les Chaumes, Corton La Vigne au Saint and Corton Les Combes. On its other side, it has the premiers crusLes Guérets and Petits Vercots. Jean-Baptiste says it is in a good location on a quality soil of fine clay (deep soils). This is the most red-fruited in character, gently supported by soft tannins and with good depth. An earlier drinker, fresh and approachable. 100% destemmed.

$117 per bottle

Corton "Les Renardes" Grand Cru Rouge 2023

The crown jewel of the collection, this grand cru from the hallowed hill of Corton offers profound depth with black cherry, forest floor, and exotic spice notes, all framed by noble tannins that promise decades of evolution.

This is a steeply sloping plot of nearly half a hectare, on the exposed eastern side of the hill of Corton, at the same level as Corton Clos du Roi and above Corton-Bressandes. The vines were planted in 1963 and are on particularly shallow soil. This is one row away from Lalou Bize’s Corton! An inviting, dark nose of exotic and pretty tea leaf spices. The palate is sappy and pure, focussed and elegant, the fine tannins supporting driving energy. 30% whole bunch fermentation. 13.5% abv.
